This was our second visit and we’ll definitely be back. Lorraine is the perfect host, friendly, accommodating and nothing is too much trouble. Nicely decorated rooms that are spotlessly clean. Beds very comfortable. Very convenient position for St David’s station and the town centre.

Oakcliffe Hotel was a nice and pleasant experience. The host was very accommodating and valued to give me a wonderful time in Exeter that I felt secured even traveling on my own. It felt like a home away from home with it's cozy ambience and delicious home cooked breakfast. In the future, I will definitely be going back there.

Despite its small size, Oakcliffe is very tidey and squeeky clean hotel with one of the most comfortable beds I've ever experienced in a hotel. It is a bit small and compact, but for someone visiting the city for a short period it's a great choice to spend a a couple of nights while saving your money to spend elsewhere. They offer a good breakfast and the management is always there to answer the visitors inquiries. Would definately recommend.

I stayed in order to go to a friend’s funeral and, in so far as is possible in such sad circumstances, had a lovely time in Exeter, thanks to the friendly, cheerful and sympathetic owners of the Oakcliffe.

I just needed a quick one night stopover and this was perfect. Everything was spotlessly clean and my single room had everything I needed. The location was excellent and Lorraine was most accommodating and friendly. I will definitely be using again.

Stayed here for a few days after finding it cheaper than the Premier Inn. Very good loaction, near city centre and St Davids and Central train stations. Rooms were kept clean and tidy and having keys meant we could come and go as we pleased. We ate breakfast in the dining room every morning and nothing was too much trouble.There was a great selection of breakfast items on offer and Lorraine and hubby were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely stay there again.

Oakcliffe Hotel is a real gem. It is comfortble, friendly, spotlessly clean & very convenient for the railway station & University. Nothing is too much trouble for the owners. Thw breakfast deserves a special mention; I'm vegetarian & it was the best breakfast I've ever had in a B&B (or hotel) - plenty of choice & perfectly cooked: absolutely delicious. I shall definitely stay here again when I'm in Exeter

A brief escape away to Exeter. The property is clean and our room was tidy with a really comfortable bed. Breakfast was great and Lorraine was an excellent host.It is only a short walk to the centre of town and the cathedral.

We had a one night stay at the Oakcliffe as we were attending an event at the Corn Exchange and didn't want to drive home afterwards. The hotel is easily within walking distance of the city centre and fitted our needs perfectly. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable.

What can I say, we had a really Great time. Room was perfect for the 3 of us, super clean. Hosts really friendly and helpful. Exeter and surroundingare stunning. Hope to be back soon

Location was good, 10 min walk from the city centre and 8 min from train station. The room was same as on the booking’s ad. Except the breakfast, it is optional, stated on the hotel’s offer and sadly, I was not informed ahead, only at the site when I arrived, that breakfast was not available for a time being. Closest food or restaurant was in the centre only.

We arrived at Oakcliffe and was met by a lovely family who made us feel most welcome. The apartment was very clean and well presented, my son had an ensuit and we had a shared wc and shower with other rooms. My only negative comment would be that the shower cubicle could do with a refurbish and replace the shower unit with thermostatic one. Overall a very pleasantstay.

We have a lovely stay here. We came to Exeter for our sons graduation. Lovely lady who owns the B&B , spotless room and very comfortable. Great breakfast. Great to have parking in thecity centre too.

A warm welcome from Lorraine set the tone for my stay. Basic room but comfortable, nice cooked breakfast, and central location. There is also parking at the back which was very helpful. I was there for Graduation was out and about most of the day - good value for money if you need a base in Exeter.

The En-suite room we had was spotlessly clean with everything you would need for a short stay Tea & Coffee making facilities , flat screen TV, comfortable bed, etc. The owner was a great host and very welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble. Cooked breakfast was included and very good, along with a range of cereals and yogurts. Very handy for university(as we were here for a graduation ceremony) and only 10 minutes from the city centre. On-site parking was also a bonus. Would definitely stay again.

Very convenient location just next to Exeter St Davids train station, comfortable and clean room plus one of the best breakfasts I have ever had, and all of that at a very reasonable price :) Can't recommend enough!

Great location close to Exeter University, Town Centre and 5 min walk to Exeter St Davids train station. Spotlessly clean and comfortable room. I stayed in one of the rooms at the top on the hottest day of the year and Grace went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable from the warm welcome to the fan and iced water to keep me cool! I’d recommend this as a very safe place to stay if travelling alone. The 4 free small parking spaces (for 7 rooms) was a great added bonus for the location.

Regularly stay at this hotel whilst in Exeter to see my daughter at Uni.Very reasonably priced, comfortable, and clean.

In town for a conference, stayed here one night. Good location between the university and city center, easy check-in and -out, comfortable bed and room. English breakfast was good, and the owner was very kind and helpful. Would definitely stay again!

Hosts were very helpful when we arrived early for our overnight stay. Short walk to St David's station. Nice quiet room at the back, slept well. Cooked breakfast to set us up for the day. Bonus is car park but a tight squeeze for modern vehicles. Very friendly.

I stayed here overnight after a very necessary attendance at a funeral in Exeter.This hotel was everything a hotel in these circumstances needed to be.Most importantly, albeit limited, there was car parking.Once parked, after arriving earlier, having allowed for the latest case scenario, I wasn't likely to be going out again exploring in the car ... having already done a long-haul drive.For me the intention was watch telly in bed and sleep.Shower room good, breakfast good, television in room good.I also liked the scenic view behind the hotel and wondered how far the drop is to the park and distant housing I could see.Stood by the higher wall, a good location to devour the remains of my "afterlife party food" and adjudicate what picture a photographer might capture, as indeed one passer-by did.Lorraine as front of house was excellent from arrival and hosting breakfast.Most importantly, when compared to some other locations I've stayed on business travel, good food and very clean rooms.I'll need to think of an excuse to visit again.Finally, I have to know where Bill obtained those fancy design Saturday trousers from.Definitely deserves a five star rating.

Spent two nights in Exeter to see the Cathedral and the other architecture in the central core. Oakcliffe Hotel was conveniently located only 15 minute walk from the Cathedral, some on a pedestrian street. V and A museum not overly interesting unless you want to see stuffed critters and a small section on the local history. We stayed in room 5, the family room with double bed and two bunk beds, as other ensuite double rooms were booked. Was at the top of hotel and front of the building so did have street noise so we couldn’t leave our window open to keep it cool during the night. With window closed it greatly reduced the steeet noise. There are a couple of other double ensuite rooms at the back so will know that if we return. Lorraine provided a number of full breakfast options and one vegetarian one as well plus yogurt, cereals and toast. Tea and coffee and juices. Lorraine was very helpful in giving us directions and suggestions for eating. Unfortunate for me and Bill I gave him a gruff but I thought teasing greeting. It wasn’t taken as such. Only have one chance to make a first impression and I blew it. So sorry Bill. Would recommend this hotel highly. Thank Carol Shade, Calgary, Canada

Convenient for both St. Davids and town, with very welcoming landlady and limited parking. A busy day meant an early check-in was especially appreciated, as was an excellent breakfast before our onwards journey. Recommended!

Perfect location near the train station and the city centre. Lorraine was really nice and helped me a great deal during my trip. The breakfast was also excellent and the premises sparkling clean. A great solution if you're travelling alone and need a place to stay in Exeter near the station, but also if you're visiting the city and the area.

A warm friendly welcome from this small but well formed hotel, the owner was very helpful, hotel lovely and clean, en-suite room was clean, tidy and comfortable. Bathroom was very good. The location of this hotel is perfect for the City centre (not too close to be noisy and not too far away to be walkable) with a variety of restaurants very close by. We had an evening meal at Wetherspoons which is just very short 5 min walk away. St Davids rail station is just around the corner. On site free parking is a real bonus. All in I would have to say an excellent value for money hotel. I would have no hesitation in staying here again or recommending to our friends.

Myself and my daughter had a night away as a treat. The owner was extremely pleasant and we certainly will stay again.

My room was warm and comfortable with a washbasin and TV.It appeared to have been quite recently decorated, as did the entire hotel.I enjoyed the breakfast which was generous with all the usual options and served very promptly in the light and airy front room.Four stars because it was very good value for money and my hostess could not have been more friendly and welcoming!Free parking within walking distance of the city centre was a worthwhile bonus!

Great breakfast, elegantly furnished room, friendly welcome, sensible covid protocols, nice little touches everywhere.Not much to add after my previous review, except that when travelling alone, I take smaller and cheaper hotel rooms, so some can be less hospitable.Not in this case, as the room was splendid.When I'm back with the wife, I'll get a larger en-suite room in this excellent hotel.

If I'm travelling alone, I just tend tofind the cheapest room I can. Usually this means no en-suite facilities, but I'm fine with that. This means a huge variability in the quality of rooms I get.At the Oakliffe Hotel, every part of the experience was top-notch. Me and my partner thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the oakcliffe. It’s ideal location (5 minute walk from the centre) made things very convenient as well as their free parking at the back. Lorraine was a lovely host and very attentive. She was even kind enough to let us keep our car parked up for a few hours extra after our stay to allow us to go into town before we left Exeter. Overall, a very enjoyable experience and the Oakcliffe is somewhere we will definitely be coming back to.

My single room is clean and cosy and it looks out on St David's Hill which I like. As it's not an en-suite room, I share the WC and bathroom facilities with the guest next door.It worked very well for me as the facilities are literally next door to my room.The hostess was a cheerful, sociable and approachable. That's definitely a bonus.

Comfortable room and bed, proper mugs for your tea, and a friendly welcome plus perfect breakfast. The apparent lack of hot water to the hand basin was a bit disappointing, ditto the lack of a working socket for the bedside light! Would stay again, though.

We received a very warm welcome at the Oakcliffe Hotel. Our room was tastefully decorated, comfortable and quiet as it was situated at the back of the building away from the road. We opted for a breakfast pack as due to Covid cooked breakfast was not available. This was adequate for our needs but more suited to chocolate lovers which we are not! Nice to have fresh fruit included. We would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Great place to stay for a night to break up the journey to Cornwall. Everything clean and Coronavirus protocol followed. The hostel is very close to Exeter St David's and just a short walk to get to cafes etc in the centre. The room was very comfortable with everything necessary provided.

Liked · I booked my room on extremely short notice and didn't arrive till around 2000 however the welcome and reception I received where top notch. They even advised me where I could get something nice to eat. The room was really nice for the price extremely clean and modern with enough amenities. I had a shared bathroom which didn't bother me but ensuites are available. The bed was very comfy not too hard and but too soft and the pillows spot on. My stay came with breakfast included, there's a buffet style cold breakfast of yogurts cereal etc and cooked breakfast of your choice. I had poached eggs on toast with mushrooms and they were perfect, I'm not just saying that Delia herself would have a run for her money. All in all a wonderful overnight stay and bang in the city centre too

Warm welcome from start has parking spaces around the back!! Stayed in the family room with bunk beds. Very clean tidy and modern. Personal shower and toilet. Was told where to local pub was only a 2 min walk. Very very nice place to stay!!

It is a family owned business as far as I can tell. This is our second time in the hotel, I think this tells a lot. If you are looking for some good place to stay for your money and have no extra wish then you found the one.

The staff were extremely friendly and made my stay very enjoyable. The breakfast was really good and the room itself had everything I needed and was very clean.

The owner was very friendly and welcoming. My son said he ‘slept like a baby’. Unfortunately we didn’t have time for breakfast so can’t comment. We were allowed to leave the car the following morning and it was an easy less than 10 minutes into the town, which was helpful.
